Kamen Rider, Childish? A simple thing to learn

I just want to write about my favorite thing, Kamen Rider.
Kamen Rider Ichigo, the first Kamen Rider

Why do I really like Kamen Rider? Simply because they are superheros. But it doesn't stop here, there are a lot of values which Kamen Rider gives to us.
I will tell you later in this post some of them.

Originally, the story of Kamen Rider revolves around a man which was kidnapped and underwent a surgery to be a cyborg soldier by an evil organization. But before he was brainwashed, he got to run away. Having fate to be reborn as cyborg he was determined to use his power to fight the evil organization.

Maybe it's a little bit hard to see some of them in "nowadays" Kamen Rider (read: Heisei Kamen Rider) since the main theme is changed in Heisei era. In older Kamen Rider (read: Showa Kamen Rider), you can find a lot, but it 's better to get it from the manga version, not the TV version.
"Kamen Rider" manga
Indeed, Kamen Rider in manga is a lot better than the TV series.
Especially for the original "Kamen Rider", you will understand the burden of Hongo Takeshi had to carry by having such power and miserable fate, after underwent the surgery which made him a cyborg.

Although initially the story is serious (about "evil organization", conspiration, murders, etc), because of the TV series, the image of Kamen Rider nowadays is very childish for some people (well, the target is children actually, of course).

What I got from Kamen Rider
Yes, I am a Kamen Rider otaku, and I think there's nothing wrong with it. Kamen Rider always gives children a good lesson.
It's really simple, even children can understand.
  • Be kind (like what Kamen Rider do) and do not do bad things which make others unhappy (like what the Monster do).
  • If you see the bad thing and you can do something, you should stop it (like what Kamen Rider do).

For a little bit more complicated, for me Kamen Rider also teach these values (I will try give the reference inside the bracket):
  • Think and feel how others will feel. (Kamen Rider suffered great loss caused by The Evil Organization "Shocker", and he didn't want others feel the same thing)
Well, you don't have to feel the exact thing as others will feel, but you should have empathy to know what will others feel.
  • Be responsible with what power you have. (Kamen Rider choose to use his power to fight against the Evil Organization)
For me, Kamen Rider is totally not telling you to have a great power to be cool. It tells you what you can do with what you have or what power you were granted.

A lot of reasons to love it. And I am okay to be childish to love it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not like other people who are "great", "mature", and "cool", that can think and talks about complicated things like integrity, nationalism, contribution (for nation), politics, public policy, government things, etc, which are very complex.

Some people can talk about great things, big things, what can be done to give happiness to others, even for a whole nation. They are able to plan realistic projects for charity, sharing the idea of what a good nation is, etc.
But some of them sometimes forget about the small thing. Even the smallest kindness in human-to-human relationship matters. If they don't do it, or even do the bad things, all the big things they think don't matter anymore.

And I prefer to be "childish" (not cool, for many people), to be simple-minded about what good and bad things, so I know what I should do to others. Just in small scope is fine.

* but, even though I said the value is not to seek the power, and I said it is miserable for the Kamen Rider to be a cyborg, it is the beginning of my dream to create robot hahaha.

    1. Sorry mas baru bales, baru buka lagi haha.
Yep, that's also one of the reasons. I personally think superheroes shows is very good for children, even maybe for adult it seems too absurd or illogical. The point is to teach about "heroic" values.
