Mengejar Mimpi ke Jepang Part 4: Research Plan dan Dokumen Lainnya

Untuk dokumen, sebenernya secara umum sama kayak Monbu G to G, bisa dicek di webnya di Part 1.
Tapi, untuk Monbu U to U, terkadang ada beberapa dokumen yang dibutuhkan yang sifatnya spesifik.

Menurut saya, yang paling penting adalah Research Plan. Oleh karena itu, saya akan menitik beratkan pada Research Plan pada Part ini.

Dari hasil korespondensi dengan Sato-san, Staff dari Office of International Relation, saya mendapatkan list dokumen untuk apply Monbu U to U sebagai berikut.

1) Application forms for MEXT Research Student 2015. (Attached file No.1) Original. *Paste your photo.

2) Application forms for Field of Study and Study Program. (Attached file No.2) Original.

3) Certificate of all degrees conferred or other proof of graduation, Photocopy of diploma. (Original is better but you can send the copy, first)

4) Certificate of academic record (transcript) of all universities attended to be issued by the university authorities. (Original is better but you can send the copy, first)

5) Certificate of ranking (GPA), In case of the transcript does not contain GPA(Grade Point Average), the official letter shall state the class rank or other scale of academic achievement. (Original is better but you can send the copy, first)

6) Certificate of your national register, citizenship or copy of passport. (Copy)

7) One recommendation letter from Director or Dean of Faculty or President at home university to President Hamada Juniichi, the University of Tokyo (Original)
   *Please write his name  (President, Professor Hamada Junichi,  the University of Tokyo).

8) Summary of Thesis or essence of research work and plan. (1-2pages in A4 size, Copy) No need all of thesis.

9) Certificate of language competency (TOEFL, TOEIC, or other certificate, Copy)

Also, your prospective Professor has to submit 2 documents for your recommendation as follows:

10) Suisen-Chosho  (attached file No.10)

11) SogoSeisekihyouka-Hokokusho  (attached file No.11)

Those documents require to write down the result of interview with your prospective professor. It means you have to be interviewed by Professor.
You can use internet (Skype or some other tools) interview.
Would you please contact your prospective Professor and ask this matter directly? You need his/her help for scholarship application.

Secara satu per satu saya akan jelaskan sedikit mengenai penjelasan isinya apa. (Urutan sesuai nomornya)

1. Appication Form, standar isian data diri: Nama, Riwayat Pendidikan, Topik Tugas Akhir, dsb. Persis kayak dokumen untuk Monbu G to G.
2. Field of Study and Study Program, alias gampangnya Research Plan. akan dijelaskan lebih lanjut di post ini.
3. Copy ijazah, bahasa Inggris jelas.
4. Copy transkrip, bahasa Inggris jelas.
5. Keterangan tambahan GPA alias IPK, kalau di transkrip ga ada. Tidak saya lengkapi karena udah ada di transkrip.
6. Copy Passport.
7. Rekomendasi Dekan, spesifik ditujukan ke Rektor Todai.
   Harus dekan, karena secara tidak langsung menunjukkan bagaimana performa kita pas kuliah (Kalau saya kemarin ngurus ke STEI, buat mintanya harus ngasih transkrip dan rekomendasi Kaprodi. Makanya saya pikir, ini tergantung performa akademik juga diliatnya).
8. Abstrak Tugas Akhir atau skripsi.
9. English Competency.
   Nah ini yang khusus. coba di cek lagi yang bisa diterima apa.
   Monbu G to G hanya nerima TOEFL-IBT, IELTS, dan TOEFL-ITP pun bisa. tapi TOEIC ga bisa. 
   Nah yang dari Todai, TOEFL-IBT jelas bisa, tapi TOEFL-ITP ga bisa, malah TOEIC bisa. IELTS tidak ada kabar.

Nomor 10 dan 11 itu dokumen untuk Professor. Diisi penjelasan rekomendasi beliau. Gatau apa, soalnya kalau dibuka juga isinya Bahasa Jepang semua juga hahaha.

Oke, kita masuk ke Bagian Utama, Research Plan

Menyusun Research Plan

Saran saya, banyak-banyak lah mencari referensi research plan. Bisa googling, bisa tanya senior yang udah disana.  Banyak contoh yang bisa diikuti, dan pada akhirnya menurut saya, buat lah versimu yang sesuai dengan dirimu sendiri.

Secara garis besar, yang diminta diisi di Form Research Plan ada 2, yaitu:

1. Field of Study.
   dadada
2. Study Program, atau Research Plan.

Kalau saya pribadi, ada baiknya apabila kita membuat Outline isi dokumen ini terlebih dahulu. Versi saya, outline untuk kedua isi tersebut adalah sebagai berikut.

1. Field of Study
• Background S1: Universitas, Jurusan
• Tugas Akhir S1
• Riset yang akan diambil untuk S2 atau jenjang berikutnya.
Inti dari poin 1 ini, menjelaskan background kita, dan kesesuaian dengan studi lanjut yang ingin dipelajari. Pasti akan menjadi poin plus apabila sesuai, dan background kita mendukung untuk melanjutkan studi lanjut tersebut


2. Study Program
1. Research plan
Untuk research plan, saya memakai outline seperti halnya dalam menyusun Tugas Akhir. Karena menurut saya, itu metodologi riset yang benar. Oleh karena itu, outline-nya akan sebagai berikut.

• Tema atau Judul riset
• Background, atau latar belakang
• Tujuan Riset
• Ruang lingkup
• Metodologi
• Referensi
Untuk referensi, beberapa contoh research plan yang saya dapat, ada juga yang tidak usah pakai referensi.

2. Study Plan
Untuk study plan, saya tambahkan dengan maksud memperjelas planning studi saya. Saya mengikuti contoh referensi teman saya yang juga ambil Monbu, tapi udah lolos Monbu G to G duluan dan udah berangkat April kemarin. Karena menurut saya bagus, yasudah saya buat outlinenya seperti ini:
• Narasi plan step by step
• Timetable, per step di research plan digambarkan di time table ini
• Narasi ending study dan rencana ke depannya.
  (Saya tulis aja rencana saya yang mau kalau bisa lanjut lagi ke S3)

Lalu, kenapa saya memasang referensi? 

Menurut saya, dengan adanya referensi itu menunjukkan bagaimana kesiapan kita. Sejauh apa kita sudah mencari tahu terkait riset tersebut.

Ada lagi sih alasan lain: Riset saya dibuat dengan tema yang sedikit spesifik, yaitu mengenai Musculo-skeletal Humanoid Robot (seperti yang sudah saya jelaskan pada Part 2). Oleh karena itu, referensi saya banyak dibuat dari lab-lab yang membuat riset tentang itu. Dan otomatis referensinya dari lab-lab yang saya tuju.
Yah boleh lah dibilang "ngejilat", tapi intinya nunjukkin kita udah cari tahu soal riset di lab itu.

Demi referensi itu, saya bela-belain download paper-paper dari lab-lab yang saya tuju. Baca semua, skimming aja yang penting tau overviewnya. Toh kalau dibaca full belum ngerti juga secara penuh hahaha.

Kalau ditanya lagi kenapa, alasannya: Pengen research plan yang saya buat ini bukan research yang udah dilakuin di lab mereka, malahan kalau bisa cocok/sesuai dengan next development yang mereka ingin lakukan.

１ Field of study（専攻分野）

I have graduated from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, with Bachelor Degree in October 2014. My major is Electrical Engineering, focusing on Control Engineering. My field of study includes of Robotics, Control System, and Intelligent System.

My final project is “PI Anti-Windup Speed Control System for Robosoccer Small-Size League”. The project is about the development of Robosoccer which is based on Micro Robot World Cup Soccer Tournament (MiroSot) held by FIRA. Robosoccer Small-Size League is consisted of a server PC and five robots playing on the field. The server is giving instructions based on information from camera, and the robots playing by following the instructions. In this project, I designed a speed control system to improve the response of robots in Robosoccer system, since the system requires a fast and dynamic system. I designed speed controller with type of Proportional-Plus-Integral with Anti-Windup to increase the response of the motors and to handle the integral windup effect caused by the limitation of actuator.

For next study and research, my proposed field of study is still robotics and control system, but focusing on humanoid robotics. I want to study more about humanoid robots, especially on musculoskeletal and soft robotics around humanoid robots. With basic of Control Engineering, the research theme is about control system of whole-body musculoskeletal humanoid robots and the kinematics on musculoskeletal humanoid robots. The research theme is “Fast Response Control of Musculoskeletal Humanoid for Reflex Behavior and Fast Movement”.

Fast Response Control of Musculoskeletal Humanoid for Reflex Behavior and Fast Movement

Background and General Description

One of the recent developments of robotics technology is the development of musculoskeletal humanoid robot which is designed by understanding human anatomy and adapting it for the actuation system of the robot. Muscle-tendon driven system and skeletal structure is studied in order to make the robot more human-like. Musculoskeletal is developed in order to make robot be able to do tasks human can do. Many researches have been done in musculoskeletal robots for making the robot more natural, including development of reinforceable muscle and design of stiffness control for the muscle-tendon drive of the robots.

For other type of robots, there are researches about improving response of the actuation system so that the robot have quite fast response so that handling instantaneous force, such as pushed, and stabilize the robot back. There are also researches about making fast movement for robot, such as running and jumping which require a fast response from the actuators.

In order to make the musculoskeletal humanoid become more natural and more human-like, such fast response need to be developed. With faster response, the musculoskeletal humanoid can perform movement within short time and make the robot have a reflex behavior of human, for example taking action when falling down, catching a dropped item, and pushed by outer force and stabilizing the body. Another fast movement can also be done by musculoskeletal humanoid, such as running and jumping which require the actuator to have a fast response. Therefore, a control system for improving response for whole-body of the musculoskeletal humanoid need to be developed to obtain reflex behavior and make fast movement can be done.

Objectives

To develop musculoskeletal humanoid robot which has fast response on its actuator so that the robot has reflex behavior and fast movement ability such as running and jumping.

Scope

The scope of the research are designing and implementing control system for improved response system and integrating control system for whole-body.

Study Plan and Program

I would like to start as Research Student at ISI Laboratory at Department of Mechano-Informatics, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo, under guidance of Professor Ryuma Niiyama in October 2015. I plan to start as Research Student first, because during the Research Student Program I can do some preparation before taking Master Degree. I plan to study the researches at ISI Laboratory first so that I can know more about the detail of the researches, the research and working environment, and the people at the laboratory and their works. During the Research Program, I also plan to study and prepare myself for winter examination for taking Master Degree, and to study Japanese language which is really important for daily lives during my stay in Japan. I would like to take the winter examination for taking Master Degree which is around January-February 2016, and start my Master Degree in April 2016. I plan to take the courses which support my research in every semester.

I would like to continue my study to Doctoral Degree after finishing my Master Degree and continue studying about musculoskeletal robots if it is possible.

The ultimate goal of my research and study in Japan is to develop humanoid robots which can be used in application of daily lives and which are friendlier by making them more natural and human-like, so that robots can be helpful for people and people can live along with assistive robots and other automation technologies which make work easier.

Ya, itu Research Plan terakhir saya yang saya submit untuk Monbu U to U. Kalau versi yang G to G ada juga sih, tapi menurut saya tidak begitu bagus. Jadi lebih baik share yang ini.
